Title: “Assessing the Quality of Providers’ Aid”
This seminar will describe the approach and findings of the Center for Global Development’s Quality of Official Development (QuODA) assessment which examines the performance of 49 bilateral and multilateral providers of aid. The discussion will include the coverage and reliability of available metrics and how they fit with broader evidence evaluating the quality of aid programmes and development efforts.
Speaker: Ian Mitchell
Speaker Bio: Ian Mitchell is a senior policy fellow and co-Director for CGD’s Europe programme. He leads two of CGD’s flagship development policy benchmarking exercises – the Quality of ODA; and the Commitment to Development Index. He’s currently researching the future development landscape and the effectiveness of climate finance. Before CGD, he was a senior civil servant and economist in the UK Government, working mainly on international agriculture, environment, and trade policy. He also chaired the G20’s Agricultural Markets Information System Initiative (AMIS). He is an associate at Chatham House.
