The Feasibility of An Effective Population Policy for Pakistan

The purpose of the following discussion is threefold: to consider whether or not rapid population growth is an impediment to economic development in Pakistan; to assess the impact of alternative changes in population growth on the size and composition of national development plans; to consider means of manipulating population size and growth. Under the last group of problems, questions will be asked about the effectiveness of a government-directed family planning programme. Is a national population-policy a feasible operation at all?
